Privacy Policy

The Conscience ("we", "us") is operated as an independent publication in the United Kingdom. We are the data controller for any personal data described below, for the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect

• Newsletter sign-ups. If you submit your email address to our newsletter, we store it for the sole purpose of sending you the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
• Contact emails. If you email us, we keep your message so we can reply and refer back to it.
• Anonymous analytics. We use privacy-respecting analytics to count page views and understand which articles are read. We do not use cookies that identify you personally, and we do not build advertising profiles.
• Affiliate click data. When you click an outbound affiliate link, the destination retailer or affiliate network may set their own cookies. Their cookies are governed by their privacy policies, not ours.

What we don't do

• We don't sell your data.
• We don't share your email with brands we feature.
• We don't run third-party advertising trackers on the site.

How long we keep it

Newsletter emails are kept until you unsubscribe. Contact emails are kept for up to two years and then deleted. Analytics data is aggregated and retained for a maximum of 24 months.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you, and the right to object to or restrict our processing. To exercise any of these, email hello@theconscience.co.uk. We aim to respond within 30 days.

If you believe we've handled your data improperly, you can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If we update this policy materially, we'll note the change at the top of the page and update the date below.
